FAQs

Programs vs. Drop-Ins: What’s the Difference?

Our Programs and Workshops are structured series of classes that run for a set period, allowing dancers to build skills progressively in a supportive, small-group setting. Programs are ideal for those looking to commit to ongoing development and growth.

Our Drop-Ins are perfect for those who prefer a flexible schedule or want to explore different styles casually. Drop-ins are offered at scheduled times and don’t require a long-term commitment.

Whether you’re looking for steady progress or just a fun, one-time experience, we have options to suit every dancer!

 Where should I park?

Street parking is available on Portage Avenue and side streets at no charge. You may park in the Westland Insurance parking lot on weekdays 5:00pm-11:00pm and weekends all day.* There are spots to lock up your bike, and we are also conveniently located on one of the cities most popular bus routes with a stop right out front!

*Do not park in the Westland Insurance parking lot outside of these hours, or if there has been a large snow fall. You will be towed at your own expense.

 What should I wear

Wear whatever makes you happy! Just make sure you can move in it ;). Please bring indoor only shoes for styles like hip hop, heels, broadway and jazz funk. If taking lyrical, jazz, or ballet, you may wear ballet shoes, jazz shoes, socks, bare feet, whatever your heart desires!

IMPORTANT notice for heels dancers: Heel caps are required when where high heels to class. We have them for sale at the front desk for $5. Chunky/Block heels are prohibited as they damage the flooring.

BRING A WATER BOTTLE. We have a water fill station but no drinking fountain. Water bottles are available for $12+gst at the front desk.

How old do I have to be to attend a drop-in?

Our classes are open to students of all ages! We see a wide range of ages from 13 - retired folks, with the average age being around 30. #LateNight18+ classes are for dancers aged 18 and up.

Adult Dance Programs are for adult dancers aged 18 and up.

Youth programs are for kids ages 18 months-17 years.

 How are the classes structured?

Drop-in classes non-commitment based, individual 60 minute classes. Most start with a warm up and/or technique. After the warm up you will learn a short piece of choreography step-by-step! At the end of class we offer a couple of opportunities to be filmed, however this is totally not a requirement of class. We will always ask your permission before filming, and give you the option to keep dancing out of sight of the camera.

What do the different Levels mean?

ABSOLUTE BEGINNER: No dance background is needed

BEGINNER: Beginner classes are tailored to those who are new to dance, have limited experience, or prefer to take class at a relaxed pace with simple, feel-good moves. Join us as we break down the steps and groove at a comfortable tempo, creating an enjoyable dance experience for every dancer.

INTERMEDIATE 1: Intermediate 1 classes are tailored for dancers with a solid grasp of basic dance terminology. These sessions offer slightly more complex choreography and move sets. The pace is set at a comfortable slow to moderate tempo, providing a welcoming challenge for those seeking a bit more complexity in their dance practice.

INTERMEDIATE 2: Intermediate 2 classes are designed for those seeking a challenge without diving into the advanced room just yet. Moving at a moderate pace, we focus on intermediate choreography and the foundations of advanced moves. If you're eager to build up to Advanced and prefer a supportive step-by-step approach, look no further.

ADVANCED: Looking for a push? Having fun in Intermediate and want to test your skills? These classes are an immersive experience into complex choreography and intricate move sets. With a brisk pace and a focus on refinement, this class skips the general technique reviews, providing a challenging environment that pushes you both physically and mentally. Embrace the challenge, and elevate your skills!
