Contemporary Tango

Building on fundamentals of Argentine tango and evolving as everything does, Contemporary Tango encourages playfulness and exploration of music, forms and roles.

Focusing on electro-tango music (Otros Aires, Bajo’Fundo, Gotan Project…) come and explore leading, following, playing and connecting through creative dance movements with partners. Stemming from fundamentals of Argentine tango and evolving as everything does, these classes will inspire expression, real connection to music and each other.

Fat Babes Dance Collective

Introducing Fat Babes Dance, classes geared for individuals who identify as fat, or anyone who has felt marginalized and unwelcome in dance. While all bodies are welcome, these classes are for fat folks to dance it out and feel amazing. Register early to ensure your spot!

Peg City Rollers

That’s right! Dance on Rollerskates! Skating isn’t just for the Rink. Fun, Fitness and Flow can all be achieved in just a few feet of space! Learn the skills and movements in studio that you can take home with you to make roller dance a healthy daily practice! Explore workshops that focus on beginner and intermediate movements such as Crazy Legs, Dribbles, Struts, Pivots and Spins and much more! Instructional lessons and Co-Led workshops available! All you need to join in the fun is a pair of quad Rollerskates!

Polynesian Dance & Hot Hula Fitness

Nenette Alejandria Mayor has over 45 years of Polynesian dance experience, as well as experience in hip hop, jazz, and cultural Filipino dance.


Born in the Philippines and raised in Canada, Nenette, at the age of 6, joined the Kealoha Polynesian Dancers of Winnipeg, under the instruction of Director Mabelle Perez de Tagle, She learned hula 'auana (modern hula) and ori tahiti, and had the pleasure of performing at various cultural and family-oriented events throughout the city, including the Red River Exhibition Parade in 1977.

 

Nenette lived in Hilo, Hawai'i in her 20s, but returned to her Canadian home to raise her family and share her love of the Islands with the community she loves.

 

In 2005, Nenette founded and directed Makana Aloha Hula School and Performance Group, teaching workshops and sessions.


In August 2017, Nenette became a Certified HOT HULA fitness® Instructor, the first and only one in Manitoba, Canada, and her group has performed at various events including the Manitoba Filipino Street Festival.
